Qualifications and skills
  • A320 First Officer upgrading to Commander
  • A minimum of 4500 hours total including 1000 hours on multi-crew glass cockpit jet aircraft;
  • A minimum of 3 years employment with Air Seychelles.
  • Shall hold a valid ATPL (A) and valid class 1 medical certificate.
  • Shall have passed 2 preceding Operator Proficiency Checks without a failure, partial pass or repeat on more than one aspect of the check. Additionally,the co-pilot shall not have competency grading of 2 in any of the competency.
  • Shall have not been the subject of any disciplinary action by the Human Resources department within the preceding 12 months.

Summary
  • Be responsible for the safety of all crew members, passengers and cargo on board as soon s/he arrives on board, until s/he leaves the aeroplane at the end of the flight.
  • Assume authority to give all commands he deems necessary for the purpose of securing the safety of the aeroplane and of persons or property carried therein.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that the aeroplane, and any required equipment is serviceable and that relevant emergency equipment is serviceable and ready for use.
  • Confirm that the aeroplane’s performance will enable it to complete safely the proposed flight.
  • Ensure that the aircraft is operated in compliance with the terms of its Certificate of Airworthiness and within the approved limitations contained in its Aeroplane Flight Manual.
  • Ensure that all operational limitations, procedures and checklists are complied with, in accordance with the Operations Manual.
  • Assume authority to disembark any person, or any part of the cargo, which in his opinion, may represent a potential hazard to the safety of the aeroplane of its occupants.
  • The commander has the authority to apply greater safety margins, including aerodrome operating minima, if he deems it necessary.
