First Air Seychelles flight from Durban lands in Seychelles
Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, celebrated the landing of its first non-stop flight from Durban to Seychelles yesterday evening.
Flight HM62 touched down at Seychelles International Airport at 9.10 pm and was welcomed by a traditional water cannon salute and a cultural performance on arrival.
The new twice-per-week service was launched yesterday, becoming the second route operated by Air Seychelles to South Africa in addition to Johannesburg, on the same day that the island carrier introduced services to Dusseldorf in Germany.
Operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft with 136 seats, the new service offers business and leisure travellers convenient connections to Seychelles on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “With our combined flights to Durban and Johannesburg, we now provide seven direct flights to South Africa every week, making it easier than ever for holidaymakers and businesspeople to visit Seychelles, as well as, Seychellois nationals to discover yet another shopping destination in South Africa.
“Our new Durban service has gathered huge interest from the public and travel trade alike and we are confident it will produce good results for Air Seychelles and the Seychelles itself."
