Air Seychelles and Etihad airways increase frequencies on Seychelles – Abu Dhabi route
Air Seychelles and Etihad Airways today announced upcoming changes to their flight schedules that will offer guests more choice and greater flexibility when travelling between Abu Dhabi and Mahé.
Effective 1 December, the new schedules will see Air Seychelles add two additional services per week and Etihad Airways one additional service per week, bringing the combined number of weekly return flights to Abu Dhabi from 10 to 13.
The extra frequencies will provide an additional 217 weekly connections to key destinations across the Gulf region, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, North Asia, and Australia, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul. Excellent connectivity will be maintained to and from Europe via Etihad Airways’ hub in Abu Dhabi.
Manoj Papa, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer, said: “The enhancements to our flight schedule mark an important step forward towards us establishing a consistent double-daily service between Seychelles and Abu Dhabi in cooperation with our equity partner, Etihad Airways.
“Having the extra seats and cargo capacity of three additional services will allow us to significantly boost the flow of trade and tourism into Seychelles, fulfilling our key mandate of fostering growth in the national economy.
“In addition, business and leisure travellers will benefit from more travel options when flying between Mahé, Abu Dhabi and beyond, as our schedule has been designed to offer seamless connections to onward flights on our respective networks at each end.”
Air Seychelles commenced flights between Mahé and Abu Dhabi in March 2012, while Etihad Airways began operations in November 2011. The carriers operate a combination of two-class Airbus A330 (18 Business Class and 236 Economy Class) and A320 (16 Business Class and 120 Economy Class) aircraft on the route.
