Air Seychelles gives school of exceptional child students a tour to remember
Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, this morning hosted eleven children from the School of the Exceptional Child on a tour of the airport and its Twin Otter aircraft.
The visit commenced at the Seychelles International Airport where the children, who were accompanied by six teachers, had a chance to experience and learn about the process of checking in for a domestic flight.
Afterwards, the group boarded an 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft which drove the children across the apron to the aircraft maintenance hangar, where they met Air Seychelles pilots and engineers, heard exciting stories about their experience and took photographs to remember the day.
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome students from the School of the Exceptional Child on a special behind-the-scenes tour of the airport and our domestic hangar.
“Our young guests had a fantastic morning and I am confident we triggered their imagination and managed to leave a lasting impression on them of what it feels like to be onboard a plane which they will surely share with their families and friends during the days ahead of us.
“We have a strong corporate social responsibility program and are happy to play a role in supporting the educational curriculum by hosting such tours.”
Josie Michaud-Payet, Manager for CSR, Donations and Sponsorships of Air Seychelles, said: "We take great pride in our commitment to make a positive difference in the local community and are delighted to have been able to provide kids from the School of the Exceptional Child an insight into our domestic flight operations."
Elisette Racombo, a teacher at the school, said: "Like all children, our students at the School of the Exceptional Child love airplanes and for many of them it was their first time getting on an aircraft.
"I would like to thank Air Seychelles for organising this trip and giving our students a better understanding of air travel – it was a dream come true for many of the children and everybody could feel their excitement.”
Located in the Roche Caiman district, the School of the Exceptional Child provides special education to children who have intellectual and physical disabilities that require extra support.
