Air Seychelles is supporting a national campaign to control the outbreak of hairy caterpillars, believed to be Euproctis fraterna, by sponsoring the air freighting of equipment and chemicals from South Africa to Seychelles.

The caterpillar is responsible for major defoliation of local plant species and is known to cause a painful skin irritation and allergic reactions.

Air Seychelles’ non-stop service between Paris and Seychelles landed at Seychelles early this morning after an overnight flight.

Flight HM 17 touched down at 6:10 am local time and was greeted by a traditional water-cannon salute on arrival.

A group of 10 Air Seychelles cabin crew have graduated from the Etihad Airways Training Academy in Abu Dhabi after completing a demanding five-week course.

The group is the thirteenth from Air Seychelles to receive training at the state-of-the-art facility where the programme covers safety and service training on the Airbus A330-200 and A320 aircraft.
