Air Seychelles increases network capacity and flight frequencies on new winter schedule
Air Seychelles will offer travellers more convenience and a greater choice of flight options as part of its new winter schedule, with an increased number of weekly frequencies on its domestic network and upgraded seat capacity on selected flights to Abu Dhabi, Mauritius and Johannesburg.
The new winter flying programme starts on Sunday 25 October and will see Air Seychelles operate 175 return services per week offering additional 1,200 return seats between Mahé and Praslin, the two biggest islands in the Seychelles archipelago.
Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “We are excited to reveal our winter flight schedule, which adds considerable depth to our Mahé –Praslin route and provides travellers with more flexibility and choice when flying between these islands and connecting to our international services.
“We also aim to offer more seat capacity connecting to other international operators, as well as, increasing capacity at peak demand, both with the aim to further support the economic development and growth of Praslin.
“This development comes hot on the heels of a newly-introduced pricing structure for our domestic flights and will be followed shortly by the arrival of our new Twin Otter turboprop aircraft, demonstrating our commitment to strengthening this key part of our business.”
In addition to enhancing its domestic network, Air Seychelles will upgrade regional seat capacity by operating an Airbus A330-200 aircraft on scheduled Sunday services to Abu Dhabi and Mauritius, replacing a narrow-body A320.
Mr Kinnear added: “By operating a wide-body A330-200 to Abu Dhabi and Mauritius on our Sunday flights, Air Seychelles will be better positioned to meet the strong and growing travel demand during the weekend period.
“Along with extra seats, these services offer our cargo customers more choice and capacity to and from Seychelles, thanks to the 13 tonnes of belly-hold cargo space on this aircraft type.
“Put together, the winter schedule will enable Air Seychelles to bring more visitors to Seychelles and facilitate travel between the islands, stimulating more commercial and trade activity.”
With specific regards to peak season in December, the airline has also secured five additional flights to Mauritius, as well as four additional flights to Johannesburg.
Due to the winter daylight savings time, flights from Paris – Charles de Gaulle to Seychelles will depart the French capital 65 minutes earlier, at 4:55 pm, to arrive in Seychelles the next morning at 6:10 am.
