Air Seychelles, the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles, has announced that its “Summer Extravaganza” promotion has ended with resounding success, capping off a busy summer season.

The special promotion saw 70 prizes up for grabs through July and August, including air tickets, seat upgrades to business class, airport lounge passes and duty free vouchers, and was met with a tremendously positive response from travellers in Seychelles.

Air Seychelles will present these prizes to the winners at a special ceremony that will take place at the carrier’s luxurious VIP Lounge at Seychelles International Airport on 23 September, 2016.

The popularity of the “Summer Extravaganza” promotion contributed to Air Seychelles registering a record month in August, during which it carried 56,507 passengers on its international and domestic routes, representing an 11 per cent increase over passenger numbers in August 2015. The airline carried 32,836 guests on its international services during the month. The top three international routes were Abu Dhabi (6,850), Paris (6,062) and Mauritius (5,037), which brought thousands of holidaymakers to the archipelago.

Its domestic operations meanwhile saw 23,671 guests fly with Air Seychelles over that period, a 17 per cent increase over passenger numbers in August 2015. This fantastic achievement was supported by the strong travel demand between Mahé and Praslin for the Feast of Assumption religious holiday, as well as the launch of daily flights between Mahé and Bird Island.

Historically, August 2016 was the busiest month recorded by Air Seychelles in its 38 years of operation.

Roy Kinnear, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “The ‘Summer Extravaganza’ proved a huge success with air travellers and we look forward to presenting our loyal guests with their much-deserved prizes later in September.

“Our record-breaking passenger numbers in August are solid proof that our business strategy is working  and we are delighted to have beaten our previous records.

“Air Seychelles is building a robust and well-connected flight network that is bringing an increasing number of holidaymakers to our islands, and stimulating economic growth as a result.  Our flights and network continue to support growth in all aspects of our business across International, Regional and Domestic operations."
